I code, and sometimes I write about it.

About Me

I have been writing software for a living since 2006, working on web, desktop, and mobile applications, machine learning, and autonomous vehicles.  I have served as a tech lead and manager for the last five years.  This is my LinkedIn profile.

I joined Google in 2012 and left Alphabet in 2023, and I have been enjoying an extended break.  I am open to part-time or fixed-term work, or perhaps something full-time if the perfect opportunity came along.

I am most interested in products with a potential to mitigate climate change or pollution, improve how democracy works, or otherwise tackle the world’s biggest problems.  I like tech that pushes up against the boundaries of science fiction.  I also have an interest in finance, though I am deeply skeptical of blockchain-related products.  I am usually somewhat more drawn towards solving product problems and driving quality improvements than I am towards stabilizing or scaling infrastructure.

The rest of this site represents my work as an independent software developer from 2011 and 2012.  I recommend my LinkedIn profile for a better view of my last ten years.
